I know it's been days since my last post -- I'm in the middle of some major life changes and just haven't been able to sit myself down and focus. I had a profound awareness of something today, however, and felt compelled to share it.

One of the things we didn't have time to discuss with guest, Mike Robbins, on last week's EmpowerHour broadcast was the idea of The Sunshine File. It was over a year ago that I first became acquainted with Mike and The Sunshine File idea.
Basically, it's a file we put together of all expressions of appreciation we receive -- whether in the form of thank you notes, glowing reports, positive emails, etc. The purpose is to have a handy reference file of positive acknowledgements that can come in mighty handy when having a dark day or feeling low -- or just need to be reminded of how much we are appreciated.

Did you realize that doodling is actually good for you!
While no one tends to pay much attention to those little lines, circles, squiggles and scribbles, we often do when talking on the phone, sitting in a meeting or attending a lecture, it is in the "mindlessness" of the action, itself, that the power lay.

Do you have any idea where the word magic comes from? Would you believe that the word is based on the Greek word magi, which was used to describe the priestly members of the ancient caste of Zoroaster.
Zoroaster was a religious teacher and prophet of ancient Persia (628 B.C. - 551 B.C.) and founder of the early religion Zoroastrianism (also related to Zarathustra.)

"... When we long for life without (insert your own word here) ...
difficulties remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure." -- Peter Marshall
I was writing something yesterday in which I questioned whether we ever reach the point in live where we can be free from challenge and struggle -- and then I remembered the above quote.

I have often heard it said to be wary of expectations -- they can set us up for "let-downs," disappointments, resentments, etc. But I bet you never heard this one: Certain expectations can actually be good for your health!
In a report to the American Psychological Association, on a study done at Loma Linda University, in which half of the participants were told they were about to watch a funny movie, the following was found:
